In the wake of a recent district court ruling from California that the addition of a citizenship question to the census violates the Constitution (as well as federal administrative laws, as held earlier by a district court in New York), the U.S. Supreme Court has agreed to expand briefing and consider the constitutional question at the April 23 oral argument originally scheduled for hearing the appeal from New York.
