Last year, Massachusetts passed a law, known informally as the “egg law,” requiring egg producers to adopt certain humane practices for chickens. Thirteen states have filed suit against Massachusetts, arguing that the law violates the Commerce Clause by attempting to regulate how other states conduct business within their own borders.
