The Himalayan Times reports that the federal government has changed the headquarters and names of local governments. Some observers contend that this violates principles of federalism, but the federal government’s Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration contends that this is necessary because if “the federal government does not have any role in this matter, local levels may change names and headquarters every hour and that could be quite problematic for the federal government.” Read more here.
