Some states allow undocumented immigrants to obtain driver’s licenses. Researchers at Georgetown University Law Center have obtained documentation revealing that Immigration and Customs Enforcement has been reviewing state driver’s license records for possible facial recognition matches. This has raised concerns in a number of states, such as Utah. According to one of the researchers: “The Utah legislature rejected the federal info-sharing required under the REAL ID Act as ‘inimical to the security and well-being’ of the state and ‘adopted in violation of the principles of federalism.'” Read more here.
