ICE Reaches Out to Local Law Enforcement for Deportation Assistance

A state agency and at least two county sheriff offices in Texas have signed agreements with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to allow local law officers who’ve received federal training to perform certain immigration-officer functions. Local agencies in a number of other states have also signed such agreements. ICE is encouraging localities to sign such agreements to enhance its ability to deport more undocumented immigrants.
