Hemp Farmer Allowed to Use Federal Water

A Montana hemp farmer has been granted the right to use federally controlled water for irrigating a hemp crop. The U.S. Department of Agriculture approved the farmer’s plan to grow hemp under the Montana Industrial Hemp Pilot Program. The U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, however, had initially denied the farmer’s request on grounds that the bureau forbids the use of water in federal reservoirs on federally controlled substances. Read more here.
