The U.S. Government Accountability Office has completed a study of federal agency oversight of environmental compliance of state highway and transit projects. Congress has also passed provisions intended to accelerate the completion of construction projects. GAO recommends that federal agencies offer more assistance to states in gauging how well states are meeting the goals of environmental compliance and accelerated project completion. Read more here.
