Federalism and the New York Mayoral Race

In an op-ed, Ray Nothstine writes that the election of Zohran Mamdani as mayor of New York City provides a good example of how a state or locality can choose their own political path. Nothstine suggests that “federalism provides more freedom to states and localities to pursue their own policies . . . [o]ne city can try socialism; another can pursue market-oriented reforms.” Read more here.
