The Center for the Study of Federalism expresses its very deepest alarm about the recent arrest of Prof. Assefa Fiseha, a fellow federalism scholar whom we have known and worked with for many years. Prof. Fiseha is a staff member and former director of the Centre for Federal and Governance Studies (CvFGS) at Addis Ababa University. He is a very respected scholar and long-time advocate of peaceful resolutions of conflict throughout the Horn of Africa.
The Center for the Study of Federalism requests that every step be taken to obtain Prof. Fiseha’s immediate release from detention and to allow him to return to his family and his post at Addis Ababa University.
