Court Rejects Coal-Ash Rules

The Trump administration has proposed weakening rules relating to the disposal of ash from coal-fired power plants. The Obama administration had put rules in place that required a minimum set of standards, but allowed states to put stricter rules in place if they chose to do so. A federal appeals court, however, recently ruled that even the Obama administration’s standards were not strict enough, casting doubt on the viability of the Trump administration’s proposed rules. Read more here.
