In response to the Trump administration’s plans to weaken auto-emissions standards, automakers have asked the administration to include California in auto-emissions talks. Automakers are concerned that, without California’s input on the issue, the talks will result in a more complex two-tier system of compliance — one system for California and states that follow its more stringent standards, and the rest of the nation.
