Mississippi Amends Its Medicaid Work-Requirement Waiver Application

Mississippi has applied for a federal waiver that would allow it to implement work requirements for Medicaid. But unlike Kentucky, Mississippi refused to accept additional Medicaid funds available under the Affordable Care Act. Colby Itkowitz writes that because the state refused the additional funds, implementing work requirements means that the poorest Medicaid recipients would be caught in a catch-22 because their increased income could render them ineligible for Medicaid. Itkowitz suggests that Mississippi has changed its waiver application to boost its chances of surviving a legal challenge. Read more here.
