FCC Rules Curtailing Local Control Begin to Take Effect

Federal Communications Commission restrictions on local governments' ability to impose aesthetic limits on internet providers have gone into partial effect this month. The validity of the FCC order is currently before the U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, in a case brought by the city of Portland. In addition, a California member of Congress has introduced legislation that would restore more local control than exists under the FCC restrictions. Read more here.
