How Americans Think About Federalism

In this article, Nicholas Jacobs asserts that the dominant perspective on federalism and American public opinion suggests that Americans do not consider federalism when making policy evaluations. Jacobs presents survey results that, he argues, suggest that although individuals generally do not consider the intergovernmental implications of policy, public opinion is not irrelevant to studies of American federalism.
